Meredith C. Mahoney Nerem is trained in family law mediation and has been mediating extensively since 2010.
Mediation is an alternative way to reach resolution outside the courtroom. The process entails identifying a neutral third party who will hear both parties and help find common ground for settlement and resolution. Mediation is informal and allows the parties to listen to and be heard by each other with the help of the mediator. It is a process that encourages the parties to maintain respect for each other and promote cooperation not only during the divorce and dissolution process but also in future interactions. Mediation also provides the parties the opportunity to retain control over their and their children's future rather than a judge determining how their lives will proceed in the future.
